Class 4 Laser Therapy
Deep-tissue photobiomodulation that accelerates cellular repair.
Quick answer
What is Class 4 Laser Therapy?
Class 4 laser therapy delivers high-power infrared light deep into tissue, stimulating mitochondria to produce more ATP, reducing inflammatory mediators and speeding repair of the disc, nerve root and surrounding muscle. It is painless, takes 8–15 minutes per area, and is used alongside decompression to control nerve inflammation.
- Session length
- 8–15 minutes per region
- Typical course
- 6–12 applications
- Frequency
- 2–4 times per week
- Sensation
- Gentle warmth
Mechanism
How it works, step by step.
- 01A handpiece delivers infrared wavelengths that penetrate several centimetres into tissue.
- 02Photons are absorbed by mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase, increasing cellular energy production.
- 03Blood flow and lymphatic drainage increase locally, clearing inflammatory by-products.
- 04Nerve conduction normalises, reducing the burning and tingling of radicular pain.
- 05You feel only a pleasant warmth; there is no burning or discomfort.
What it delivers
- Fast reduction of nerve-root inflammation and radiating pain
- Accelerated healing of disc annulus, ligament and muscle tissue
- Reduced dependence on anti-inflammatory medication
- Safe to combine with decompression and manual therapy
- No downtime and no side effects for most patients
Indicated for
- Sciatica and cervical radiculopathy
- Acute disc flare-ups
- Facet joint and SI joint inflammation
- Muscle strains and tendon injuries around the spine
- Post-surgical wound and soft-tissue healing
Not suitable when
- Directly over active malignancy
- Over the abdomen in pregnancy
- Over the eyes
- Patients on strongly photosensitising medication (assessed case by case)
Applied to
Conditions treated with Class 4 Laser Therapy.
Herniated Disc (Slipped Disc)
The most common cause of severe, radiating back and leg pain in desk-based adults. Between 80–90% of herniations resolve without surgery when intradiscal pressure is reduced early and the supporting spine is rebuilt.
Bulging Disc
The stage before a herniation. Catch it here and you avoid the far harder problem later — decompression plus posture correction can restore disc height rather than merely masking pain.
Sciatica
Sciatica is a symptom, not a diagnosis. The entire clinical value lies in identifying which structure is compressing the nerve — and treating that, not the leg.
Cervical Spondylosis & Neck Disc Disease
Delhi's most rapidly growing spinal complaint, driven by laptops, phones and 90-minute commutes. Reversible in its early stages, manageable and pain-free in its later ones.
Spinal Stenosis
Stenosis is a space problem. We cannot remove bone, but we can create space by restoring segmental motion, decompressing the disc and reducing the soft-tissue and inflammatory contribution — which is often the difference between 100 metres and 2 kilometres of walking.
Spondylolisthesis
The one spinal condition where stability, not mobility, is the priority. Treatment must be prescribed by a clinician who knows exactly what not to do.
Facet Joint Syndrome
When the disc loses height, the facets take load they were never designed for. Treating the facet without addressing the disc is why so many patients keep relapsing.
Sacroiliac (SI) Joint Dysfunction
Frequently misdiagnosed as sciatica. The SI joint refers pain into the buttock and back of the thigh, but the treatment is completely different from disc care.
Scoliosis & Postural Deformity
Honest scoliosis care: measurable goals around pain, function, cosmetic appearance and rate of progression — not promises of a straight X-ray.
Post-Surgical Spine Rehabilitation
Surgery removes the compression; it does not rebuild the spine. The muscles switched off before the operation stay switched off unless deliberately retrained.
Answers
Questions about this therapy.
Does laser therapy hurt?+
No. Most patients find it soothing, describing a deep warmth over the treated area.
How is Class 4 different from low-level laser?+
Class 4 lasers deliver far more power, so they reach deeper structures like a lumbar nerve root in a much shorter treatment time.

Bring your MRI or X-ray. You'll leave the first consultation knowing exactly what is wrong, whether decompression is right for you, and how many sessions it should take.
