Spinal decompression for patients from Mumbai

Mumbai has a large number of centres advertising “spinal decompression”, and the term is used for everything from a genuine computer-controlled decompression table to a basic traction bed or an inversion frame. This page explains what the real thing involves, what questions to ask any centre you shortlist locally, and how we handle patients who choose to travel to Delhi.

Quick answer

Can I get spinal decompression in Mumbai?

Back2Health does not operate a Mumbai branch — our two clinics are in Greater Kailash and Maharani Bagh, New Delhi. Mumbai patients are treated in one of two ways: a condensed in-clinic programme where the intensive phase (10–14 sessions) is compressed into 2–3 weeks of daily visits, or an MRI review consultation followed by a written home-rehabilitation protocol you run locally. Our decompression uses computer-controlled spinal decompression, Class 4 laser, shockwave therapy, the super-inductive system and hands-on chiropractic rehabilitation, and every plan is issued with a session count, expected milestones and total cost before you book travel.

Practicalities

How treatment works for Mumbai patients.

Out-of-city care only works if the schedule is designed for it — the intensive phase is condensed and the rehabilitation phase runs at home.

Your plan

  • Send your MRI report and images on WhatsApp first — we review before you commit to travel.
  • Intensive phase compressed into 2–3 weeks of daily sessions instead of 6–8 weeks.
  • Written home protocol with video demonstrations for the maintenance phase in Mumbai.
  • Both clinics are 30–45 minutes from Delhi airport; serviced apartments nearby in GK-1.
  • Follow-up reviews by video call at week 4, week 8 and week 12 at no extra charge.

Travel and stay plan

Your Mumbai-to-Delhi travel and stay plan.

A Mumbai patient's programme is essentially a 16-day trip built around a daily treatment slot. Below is the plan we hand out once your MRI review is done, so flights, stay and leave from work can be arranged with real dates rather than guesses.

  1. Stage 1

Before you fly · MRI review

WhatsApp your MRI report and images plus any previous physiotherapy or surgical opinion. Within 24–48 hours you receive a written session count, expected milestones and total cost. Only then do you book tickets — if we do not expect decompression to help your level, we tell you before you spend money on travel.

  2. Stage 2

Day 0 · Arrival from Mumbai

Take a morning flight (roughly 2 hours) and land with the afternoon free. Both clinics sit 30–45 minutes from Terminal 3 by taxi. Avoid long car journeys on arrival day — a slipped disc reacts badly to a full day of sitting followed by a treatment session.

  3. Stage 3

Day 1 · Examination and first session

Physical and neurological examination correlated with your MRI, confirmation of the pain-generating level, then your first decompression session at the angle and force set for that level. You leave with your written plan for the stay.

  4. Stage 4

    Days 2–14 · Intensive phase

Daily sessions of decompression with Class 4 laser over the irritated nerve root, shockwave for chronic muscular guarding, and super-inductive therapy as the deep stabilisers begin to respond. Each visit runs 45–75 minutes, so the rest of the day is yours.

  5. Stage 5

Days 15–16 · Handover and flight home

Re-examination, progress documentation, and a filmed handover of your home programme. Fly back with an aisle seat, get up once mid-flight, and start the home phase the next morning.

  6. Stage 6

    Weeks 4, 8 and 12 · Video reviews

Three video follow-ups from Mumbai at no extra charge, where the exercise programme is progressed and the sitting, screen and lifting habits that loaded the disc are corrected.

What to bring

  • MRI films and the radiology report — the physical films, not only phone photos.
  • Any X-rays, nerve conduction studies or surgical opinions you have been given.
  • A list of current medication and doses, including painkillers and nerve medication.
  • Loose, comfortable clothing and flat shoes for daily treatment sessions.
  • A lumbar roll or small cushion for the flight and taxi rides.
  • Your own laptop stand if you plan to work from Delhi during the stay.

Next steps after you book

  • You receive a WhatsApp confirmation with your daily treatment slot for the whole stay.
  • We send a shortlist of serviced apartments and hotels within 10–15 minutes of the GK-1 clinic.
  • Book a flight arriving a day before your first session; keep the return date flexible by 2 days.
  • Stop any new exercise programme in Mumbai in the week before you fly so the examination is clean.
  • If pain worsens or you develop numbness, weakness or bladder changes, call us before travelling.

Travel and stay logistics

  • Flight time Mumbai–Delhi: about 2 hours, several direct flights daily on all major carriers.
  • Airport to clinic: 30–45 minutes to Greater Kailash Part 1 or Maharani Bagh by taxi.
  • Typical stay: 14–18 days for the intensive phase; the rehab phase runs at home.
  • Serviced apartments in GK-1, Kailash Colony and Nehru Place suit longer stays with a companion.
  • Metro (Kailash Colony and Nehru Place stations) is close to both clinics if you prefer not to drive.

The protocol

What the programme actually involves.

Identical clinical protocol regardless of where you travel from — sequenced to your MRI level, not sold as a fixed package.

  1. Step 1 · MRI review and examination

Your MRI is correlated with a physical and neurological examination to confirm which level is actually generating your pain. You receive a written session count, expected milestones and total cost.

  2. Step 2 · Decompression and pain control

Computer-controlled spinal decompression at the angle and force for your level, with Class 4 laser over the irritated nerve root and shockwave for chronic muscular guarding.

  3. Step 3 · Rehabilitation and relapse prevention

Super-inductive therapy for the deep stabilisers, progressive loading, and correction of the sitting, screen and lifting habits that reloaded the disc in the first place.

Most Mumbai enquiries name a level — L4-L5, L5-S1 or a cervical bulge. Each page below covers the symptom pattern, the decompression settings used for that level and the realistic timeline.

Answers

Mumbai patient questions.

Does Back2Health have a clinic in Mumbai?+

No. Back2Health operates two clinics, both in South Delhi — Greater Kailash Part 1 and Maharani Bagh. We are transparent about this because travelling for spine care only makes sense if the plan is designed around it, which is why Mumbai patients get a condensed programme rather than the standard 6–8 week schedule.

How do I judge a spinal decompression centre in Mumbai?+

Ask four questions: is the table computer-controlled with a force feedback loop, or is it a fixed-weight traction bed? Who reads the MRI and decides the pull angle for your specific level? Are you given a written session count and cost up front? And is decompression paired with rehabilitation, or sold alone? Decompression without a rehab phase reliably relapses.

Is it worth flying from Mumbai to Delhi for slip disc treatment?+

It is worth it when surgery has been recommended and you want a documented non-surgical attempt first, when local treatment has failed after 6–8 weeks, or when your MRI shows a large contained bulge at L4-L5 or L5-S1 that responds well to decompression. For a simple first-episode backache, local conservative care is the sensible starting point.

How many days do I need to stay in Delhi?+

Most travelling patients plan 14–18 days. Day one is examination and MRI review; the intensive decompression and laser phase then runs daily. You leave with a written home programme and video follow-ups, so the rehabilitation phase happens in Mumbai.

What does the programme cost for an out-of-city patient?+

Cost is quoted per session and depends on the modalities your level needs — decompression alone, or decompression with laser, shockwave and super-inductive therapy. You receive the full figure in writing after the MRI review, before you book flights. Call +91 88005 05844 or WhatsApp your MRI for a quote.
